Trust within Teams

This edition provides ways to reflect on trust within your team… vulnerability-based trust where you aren’t afraid to admit the truth about yourself.

THINK

❓ Do your team members seem to talk and engage with each other?

❓ Are you able to name the important people in your team members’ lives?

🧐 Do you model admitting when you are wrong?

🧐 Have you heard others apologizing to each other?

This is all part of vulnerability-based trust. You must be able to trust each other; being open and honest.

PRACTICE

Think of ways you can start to increase trust within your team in these ways:

  1. Connect

→ How can I show interest with what’s happening outside of work?

  2. Apologize

→ When was the last time I said I’m sorry?

  3. Admit Mistakes

→ Do I admit when I mess up?

💡 Building trust can move slow or fast. You decide the speed based on how deep you want to go. Team offsites and retreats are a fantastic way to build trust. Email me so we can plan yours!

DO

Start CONNECTING with your team for 5 minutes at the start of each meeting.

→ Pick a question or topic and go first. Model vulnerability by sharing and answering the question first. Briefly go around and have each person answer. Below are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Bucket list travel

  • Best live event

  • Summer plans

  • Hobbies

  • Local places to explore
